Dak is done... has likely played his last game as a Cowboy...
His franchise deal is paid in full.
All his rehab will be paid for... but he'll rehab as a free agent... and will have to compete for his next job... at Dallas or elsewhere...
Meanwhile, Andy Dalton just got the opportunity of a career..... he takes the Cowboys one game past the playoffs (which Dak couldn't do)... and Jerry will pay him.

A friend was telling me about this today. Sounded pretty bad. My guess is that regardless he is set for life as far as money is concerned. A lot of players, great and otherwise, have had their careers cut short by injury. Most of them didn't get close to the money guys make today. Apparently the nfl did not offer much in the way of disability or retirement in the old days either.

nah - Dak gets 35M for this year... for 4 years with career earnings totaling $36,312,172...
If he's frugal he can live well for the rest of his life... but he's 27.... so I'd bet against that. He should have taken the $100M deal that was on the table... as most of the contracts become fully guaranteed with career ending injury. If he's lucky Jerry Jones will franchise tag him again before next season. That gets him another 37M... but I think if Dalton takes this same team where Dak never did, Dak isn't gonna get a new deal...
Alex Smith was a #1 pick.. and in 16 season he earned
50M with the 49ers (8 seasons) 68M with the Chiefs (5 seasons) 111M with the Wash (that deal become fully guaranteed when he got hurt, assuming he couldn't return)
229M total earnings assuming he retires in 2022 after his WA deal is done.
Smith is one smart fella... Dak.. not so much
