ultimateclassicrock.com/styx-crash-of-the-crown-song/Perhaps this could grow on me, but I doubt it will ever get the chance. I dislike it that much. Also, Chuck looks like someone put a turd in his Ensure drink in the posted picture. Usually, they use the best picture of the shooting. If so, I would hate to see what the others looked like. đł

I am in the minority. I like the energy and prog leanings of it. I admit it sounds like 3-4 different artists working separately during the pandemic. There's a Gowan segment involving what sounds like a door spring and castanets that is truly horrid. But the song holds my attention. I can't totally shit on it.

Bands have been know to use all kinds of things over the years. You may be spot on.

JY was interviewed on my local am station this morning. When the host asked about Gowan, JY said âwell everyone knows he replaced our other keyboardistâ, fucker couldnât even say DDYs name.

That's JY for you. No matter how hard he or anyone else tries, they can't erase what DDY brought to the table in Styx. Everyone knows exactly who he is talking about. It also makes it appear that JY just looks at Gowan as someone just hired to play keyboards. As far as the new song, I agree it sounds like three different songs spliced together to make one. When doing so it was like none of them knew what the others were writing. My immediate reaction to it was, what the hell was that and what is this song even about. It is things like this that affirm for me that DDY was the person responsible for taking what they did and created that signature Styx sound and style.

JY just seems like a dick, almost as full of himself as Ronnie Dio and Ritchie Blackmore, and thatâs saying something.

JY is one step above Chuck Panazzo in importance in the band. Easily replaceable. Sort of like the guy who got into the band because his mom had a station wagon to haul the gear around in, so they let him have a guitar and stand on stage with it not plugged in. He learned some chords over the decades. Getting rid of him would leave no original members, so management says he has to stay. He's always presented himself as way more important than he really is.

On the subject of replaceable members, I think that neither JY, TS or DDY could really be considered replaceable. It is what the three of them brought to the band collectively that people liked and what made the band. At this is point JY is the person running the show. TS is not that interested in being the face of the band. CP's involvement is only his periodic appearances at their live shows.

That said, I would tend to listen to someone that was in it. DDY has always maintained that it was the specific influences on each other that made Styx what is was and what worked for the band.

Fair enough. JY obviously still has extreme animosity toward Dennis. Sort of like Henley and Frey have/had with Felder in the Eagles. Ironic that Felder toured and played with Styx together a couple of years back.
