I bought Journey Time3 when it came out, but that's the only box set of anything - that even counts as a box set - I have ever purchased. I saw this Paul McCartney re-release/box set/whatever you call it and just wondered if there is really a market for this. Someone obviously thinks there is, perhaps because itis Paul. I can't see it for what is at best IMO a marginal album that was of little consequence when it was released.
Beatles albums I can see the market for, Wings maybe, but I can't see it for really anything else. Has anyone here ever bought something like this and if so, what album and what did you think.

it's the original album plus 32 additional tracks... I guess that's a good deal if yer a McCartney fanatic... The only box set I ever bought was Citizen Steely Dan box set... which is fabulous...

Never bought a box set of anything, music or TV. My kids got me a season of The Osborne’s when that was a thing back on MTV.

I have several seasons of NCIS, Walker Texas Ranger and the A-Team. Classics. I don't watch TV at all any more, no cable/dish though I do have Prime Video or whatever it's called through Amazon. Probably that I am just old, but I don't have the patience for any of the crap I have seen on TV in the last decade or more (except NCIS, which my 75 yo Mom got me started watching years ago). Somewhere I have my grandad's old John Wayne collection of VHS tapes, I should probably bust those out some time, but would need to buy a VHS player to watch them.

Most recent box set I purchased is "TOTO: All In." Happy to have it, but I feel like it's half-assed. How can you call it "all in" when multiple albums are missing? "All In' is such a generic title....sounds like a NBC family sitcom.

I don't know what labels Toto has been on over the years, but it seems like with Journey, for instance, all of the albums up thru TBF are Sony/CBS/Columbia but some afterward are not. I don't know of any of the post Perry albums being combined with the pre-Perry stuff. Could be that the band/labels think that the post-Perry stuff isn't good enough, but I think there are several songs which are as good or better than Baby I'ma Leaving You and some of the other crap that has been on the compilations put out by Sony over the years.

I could see Neal agreeing as any Perry association ussually means more revenue
More likely Perry doesn't want it marketed together....
For Perry, combining his solo work with the Journey catalog would mean splitting revenue he normally would get 100% of. Can't see him doing that.

I guess in that scenario, Perry thinks that 100% of Perry revenue is greater than 20% (or whatever) of Journey+Perry revenue. I'm not sure that math would work much in Perry's favor. IMO, Journey is a way bigger brand with a much better catalog than Perry solo. Maybe it's a wash and Perry is still miffed about the 98 split, so he thinks why bother?

Perry still gets 100% of the revenue he's always gotten from any Journey catalog album he has credits on... that would never change...
Adding Perry solo to Journey catalog would likely require:
1. agreement from Neal and Jon
2. Perry give up some percentage of the included Perry solo revenue to Jon & Neal
That's why I can't see Perry going for it....

Correct. The TOTO albums Looking Glass, Falling In Between, and XIV were all different labels. Just another reason why it should have been called "All In."
