Just spent a few seconds looking at the band's website for the first time in a while. No shows are scheduled, but there is a link to "Request a Show". Is that the approach now, just taking requests for shows instead of scheduling a tour? Probably pretty expensive.

from what I remember, Journey had a $300K appearance guarantee... rain or shine...

from what I remember, Journey had a $300K appearance guarantee... rain or shine... I wonder what their costs are to produce a show. Seems like it would be pretty hard to keep knowledgeable people of how to set up the stage, lighting, etc. available for one off performances. Maybe they keep a road manager on payroll year round to oversee it all and just hire in available help?

Production costs likely vary dependent on whether they are headlining, co-headlining, size of venue, etc. Their stage setup is pretty minimal now.. a typical back line, with simple risers for drums and keys. They never really had elaborate, theatrical stage sets..
Yup... that's likely the scenario. Crew on annual retainer are just like salaried employees. I'd imagine they have a few on retainer, but the majority are hired help as needed.
