Once again, I was bored, and started looking up Journey tribute bands. There are a lot of them. I haven't taken time yet to listen to any of them, but just by the pictures many of them seem to be pretty immersed in not just the music but the SP "look". Wigs, dyed haircuts, tuxedos, yellow leopard print shirts with 1981 Nike Cortez shoes, bad sideburns, the whole effort is there - and looks like it usually fails.
Has anyone heard any of these bands in person and are they any good? I know that Youtube has a lot of bad video of bands who try but just don't come close. The SP "clone" thing really turns me off, so I can't even watch those. It was bad enough in the original incarnation (Separate Ways video) and IMO hasn't aged well at all.

I think most of the Journey tribute bands have run their course...

I think most of the Journey tribute bands have run their course... Understatement of the year. Hell, I'm almost tired of Journey...almost. Need some fresh tunes!

I've seen Hugo. Not sure if he's using any soundboard magic, but it was very impressive. On albums and YT, his voice (to me) has always sounded thin and lacking power. In a live setting, it was a very credible performance.
