Perry stated in several interviews around the time Traces came out that he had just had to step away from because he had lost his love for music and was "toast". In one interview, CBS I think, he went back to Hanford, CA with the interviewer and talked about riding his Harley in his old stomping grounds. Does anyone know if his "toast" period he was talking about was the time after the ROR tour cancelation, or after the TBF hip episode. I had always assumed that it was the post ROR, but I remembered that interview in particular seemed to be in the context of the post TBF hip era, particularly because they were talking about where he had been for the past 25 years.
If it was the post TBF era, it kind of adds more credence to the "he was never really going to tour regardless of the hip injury" argument, doesn't it? And if he was referring to the post ROR era, what was the explanation for the post TBF disappearance? It doesn't really matter, I suppose, but I have too much time on my hands and started thinking about it.

Bored this evening so I rewatched the BTM Director's Cut. Not sure what was added from the original, but notice both Schon and SP said that SP was toast at the time of the ROR tour stopping. It also reminded me how good Augeri was in the beginning.

Perry has tried to "quit" a bunch of times... only his mom kept him from doing it...

He says that he is "constantly" thinking about touring and even talking about it. And this was what, 2001/2002 when this was filmed? He sure thinks about things a lot, but doesn't seem to get around to doing them very quickly (I am the same way on a lot of stuff as well, so to a point I understand). I am still waiting to buy those tickets.

you've prolly got a better chance with tickets to Heaven than you do with tickets to a Perry show...

But, but, but... He's constantly thinking about it. If he did a Vegas residency for a while, how many seats do you think he would sell? I am guessing sellouts of a 3500 seat theater at first for a few dozen shows, twice a week or so, then a constant flow for a few months after that. Way easier than riding a bus or hotels all over the country. Assuming his voice could take it. But that's been the million $ question for most of 25 years now, hasn't it?

I don't think its a question.. at all.
The Eels shows don't count... they weren't his shows... he wasn't on the bill and it wasn't announced.
That leaves Perry's last announced live performance as: Mar. 22, 1995 - Anfiteatro Luis Muñoz Marín, San Juan, Puerto Rico , San Juan, Puerto Rico
That's 26 years ago..... The man is DONE.
Has been for almost 30 years.

He was probably so stopped up from opioid use he couldn’t deal that deuce.

He was probably so stopped up from opioid use he couldn’t deal that deuce. A friend of mine in college, whenever elvis was brought up, used to say "someone had to wipe his butt". Puts all of his fame into perspective.
