Like other songs (Open Arms, for example), Neal has added more guitar to "Send Her My Love." Song has a new ending. Starts at the 26 min mark. I'm all for it. More experimentation, the better.

I like how they kept the original ending and solo, then added to it. For whatever reason, I am usually not a fan of changing the song from what I have been listening to for 40 years. This was a good way to change it up.

That was so awash in delay and reverb that its hard to discern what he's playing... man i miss his old, cleaner sound... this is mush.
As far as extending the ending, for me its a push... I'm all for doing something new.. but this just sounds more like just another Neal wang fest doing 1/2 time to the original tempo...
I really want to like what they're doing.. but what made Journey appealing (to me) was their ability to be sonically clean, lean and mean... and this just sounds like a bloated mess...

Completely agree, though Kevin Shirley has said that some reverb was what he first noticed about journey when he was hired to produce TBF. It was maybe a 3 or 4 on the albums, Neal has taken it to 11. Maybe time has taken a toll on his technique and he needs it to hide that.

No Neal is still a fantastic guitar player... as a guitar player myself of 40+ years, I can easily say Neal hasn't lost a step as a player. He's a fucking unicorn.
Guitarists are always fucking with their sound, changing amps, guitars, strings, pickups, pedals, etc.,... all in the pursuit of that perfect "tone". Neal is no different. He likely isn't even aware how much his sound has changed from his early days, and likely doesn't care as he'd rather try continuing to try and evolve, and there's nothing wrong with that...
I just prefer his older tone...
And regarding the extended endings, I really don't hear it as "experimentation"...
But that's just me.

Another great addition to an old song. Just like what they did to Open Arms on the Manilla DVD - which they have kept in concert.
