"If something else appeared, it was not of my doing". He's not wrong. It was Kevin Elson. But they all had to know the safety net was there.

he got paid. just like Ross and Smitty.
SA has always been a class act, and NS and JC are proving quite adept at burning their own bridges without help....

My guess is that we will never understand why Ross and Steve decided to take the path that they did. Seems like they could have just retired and moved on. Maybe they thought they would get more, and perhaps they did, by taking the path they did. Are either one doing anything of note anymore?

I believe he is just doing more of it now that he is out of Journey. Ross remains radio silent. Ross could have utilized social media to make a case for himself - but he blew it. As for what Smitty/Ross did (voting to change leadership in Nightmare), it's worth noting that Perry's rep and Herbie voted the same way. I don't know why they wanted to demote Jonathan, but demoting Neal at this point seems like a no brainer.

I think its ironic (and hilarious) that Nightmare still manages the use of the Journey name...
NS wanted to be able to simply say "its my name, and I'll use it whenever I want"... and the Nightmare lawyers said.. "no you won't"...

The thing that Neal doesn't understand is that it was never "his name" or "his band". There were always others who had ownership of both, so his being the only original member who has stayed through almost 50 years doesn't mean it is "his". If he didn't have 200 ex-wives to have to pay off over the years, maybe he would have had enough money to buy out the other guys. Then it would be "his name" and "his band". Even then, I doubt that Perry or Jon would have sold their interest to him because it has been an ongoing cash machine. Some years a big payday, others pretty lean, I am sure, but still worth hanging onto - especially since it is their life's work.

Someday it may be Neal Schon's Journey touring, while a band full of former members tours as Journey. Don't think for a minute Neal isn't capable of fucking things up that bad and losing control of the trade mark.

Not sure on the precise details, but as I said on MR.com (and got attacked by dipshit Monker), they band has formed a new LLC. Nightmare may still be involved, but NOMOTA is gone. Neal: “I felt like freedom is what I want to know about. That became our new actual LLC as well for our business. We just figured, let’s tie it all in. It all makes sense.” ultimateclassicrock.com/journey-raised-on-radio-freedom/?utm_source=tsmclip&utm_medium=referral

They could change their business structure, name, whatever and it would not impact Nightmare. Nightmare would still get approval rights for anything Journey related outside of the Neal/Jon agreement, would still get their share of revenue based on the previous agreements, etc. Jon is a few years older than Neal and I can see him calling it quits in the next couple of years. I can see Neal continuing as JTT or something else where he actually gets to have "his band", but it still would be under whatever the license rights provide with Nightmare. Or, I could be wrong about it all.

Easily could have done a new cd w/out them and just kept them for touring purposes. Basically what they are doing now. Randy/Walden did the record. Todd and Deeno are on tour.
