Many are saying that the intro is reminiscent of Separate Ways. I hear that. However, other post-Perry material (ex. World Gone Wild) also reminded me of Separate Ways. Once the synth intro subsides, the song spins off into a fresh yet comfortable direction. Like Ask The Lonely, the interplay between Jon and Neal is pretty balanced. Nice breezy uplifting chorus. Easily the best single released so far. Narada's drumming also stands out to me. Like Deen said, there is a "swing" to his playing - reminds me of Smith. Deen has a tendency to pound and pound.

Bob Clearmountain mixed it and allegedly had some difficulty with the guitar and drums.
Regarding Elson....serious question: when was the last time he mixed a Journey album?
Sounds very much like a Frontiers-track to me.
I'll gladly take it at this point over garbage like "Let It Rain."

There's an old saying amongst engineers... "you can't fix it in the mix"....

He produced Generations and has done a lot of their live sound over the past many years.

He was also one of the survivors of the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash that killed members of the band and crew.
