Well now we know one of the reasons Schon wants to tour all the time... he has no interest rights to the catalog, and a 17.5% interest in streaming residuals.... Perry, on the other hand, signed a straight publishing deal... UMPG is responsible for managing licensing, tracking streaming and other usage... and makes sure Perry gets paid... So, Neal and Jon sold their rights to the income and how/when the songs can be used for a lump of cash? And Perry keeps his ability to determine usage and the income but is paying someone to keep track of it for him? I wonder what happens with the songs that they have joint credit on.

Exactly what you just said... UPMG is gonna track usage and collect Perry's percentage regardless of who owns the other percentages...

In Perry's current legal petition, his attorney makes the argument that Schon/Cain can't trademark song titles even if they wanted to. They don't control them. They gave their rights away.
