Jonathan Cain has released a statement in response to Journey bandmate Neal Schon's recent cease-and-desist order, which demanded that he stop playing the group's songs at political rallies supporting former President Donald Trump. "Neal Schon should look in the mirror when he accuses me of causing harm to the Journey brand. I have watched him damage our brand for years and am a victim of both his —and his wife's — bizarre behavior. Neal sued Live Nation twice, losing both times, and damaging our ability to ever work with them again; Neal outrageously tried to take away trademarks from Steve Perry; Neal and his wife continually insult the professionalism of numerous accountants, road managers, and management firms with endless legal threats and their bullying, toxic, and incoherent emails; Neal argues online with fans who don't see eye to eye with him; and Neal and his wife recklessly spend Journey's money until there is none left for operating costs. If anyone is destroying the Journey brand, it is Neal — and Neal alone." He holds the high ground, IMO, and doesn't need to be pulled down by Neal.

Neal is getting trolled on social media. People digging up old tweets where he's bashing Trump or defending his decision to play at RNC for Romney. Hilarious. Today he shared a post by Star Trek actor George Takei mocking Cain as a "crazy MAGA uncle" (or something). Meanwhile he claims to want to appear politically neutral? Nobody believes his bullshit.

Yeah, poor baby. He deserves it for acting like such a child. The world is full of useful idiots. It's a damn good thing Neal can play guitar. What would he be otherwise?

More whining. STFU and play guitar asshole.
"No one is going to dictate to me at this point what I can and cannot do in regards to Journey. I haven’t been here and not here to take orders- never have and never will. It’s my band and I’ll own it as I should and make the right changes as needed. NS"

Fans are just baiting him into saying stupid things and he falls for it every time.

Nomota has a board of directors. He's on the board.... but so is Perry and Cain... so no Neal.. you can be dictated to in regards to Journey... at least the trademark...

I didn't realize that Perry had sold his rights. I wonder if he regrets doing that after seeing how much people are getting now for them. It's ridiculous the amounts of money these companies have paid. But, maybe him taking the cash upfront and investing it well was a better long term deal. Do these rights agreements mean that the artists no longer have control over how the songs are used in movies, commercials, etc?

my understanding is that the deals aren't permanent... in that they are for a specific period then revert back to the original owner (or heirs).
It makes sense to me. Perry is retired and these deals typically are typically a percentage of whatever the future estimated revenue is... that's the trade off... getting cash now, while the buyer is betting they can get the same (usually more)during the term of the deal.
Artist rights of refusal/approval over use are likely negotiated as part of the deals...

Feeling like the stone has not only been cracked, but pulverized into dust. Might be time for another BTM rockumentary. We never felt like we were part of the band; Neal and his wife spent all our expense money. What a circus!
Journey: Behind the Music Part Deux.

Neal's listed as a client of a publicity firm called TAG. It's clearly an amateur operation - which Neal likes because it's cheap. Over the weekend, TAG was tweeting out non-stop articles attacking Jonathan and his wife. On Sunday, TAG posted a link to a FB page that they (TAG) claimed was the official Journey fan page. On it, was a poll asking whether Gregg Rolie should be included on the upcoming tour. The fake-Journey FB page also claimed that both Jon and Arnel were refusing to perform if Gregg is allowed to appear. One of the main commenters on the page was Lady M's personal assistant, Jeff Elmore. Elmore regarded Arnel's decision as a "betrayal" to Neal. There is clearly a power struggle going on right now. After fans called out the divisive bullshit going on and the likely culprits behind it (aka The Schons), the fake Journey fan page disappeared.
The way I see it...if Jon and Arnel are united to make decisions, that's the end of it. Majority rules. If Neal doesn't like it, he can quit.

Arnel may not be an owner of the business, but to me, he holds all the cards. Without him at this point, there is no Journey for Neal or Jon. Neal could get Gregg or any other keyboard player and people might not care. Jon could get any number of guitar players and people might not care. No one is going to pay to see Journey with yet another lead singer. They might pay for Neal's JTT, but the Journey money machine is done without AP.
